Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (ÂÜÀòÉç-IIT) honored 2,163 graduates in its 55th Commencement Ceremonies for the 2nd Semester, held on June 27, 2025 at the ÂÜÀòÉç-IIT Gymnasium. The annual event highlighted the academic excellence and community spirit of the graduating class, with 1,551 students earning Latin honors and a strong representation of awardees in research, leadership, and extracurricular activities.

The graduating class demonstrated exceptional academic performance, with 728 students graduating Cum Laude, 761 Magna Cum Laude, and 62 achieving the highest distinction of Summa Cum Laude. Leading the Class of 2025 was Fahadh P. Abbas, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, majoring in Microbiology, and achieved an outstanding grade point average of 1.04968 as the class valedictorian.

The ceremonies also celebrated 22 extra-curricular awardees, 1 University Student Leadership awardee, and 25 Sustainable Future Research awardees, highlighting the diverse talents and contributions of the graduating class.

Given the number of graduates this year, the university’s various colleges organized Pre-Commencement Ceremonies on June 25 and 26. These events allowed the colleges to honor their graduates in more intimate gatherings, giving special recognition to academic and leadership achievements prior to the main commencement exercises.

The 2025 graduation was also marked by a significant milestone with the first exclusive Hooding Ceremony for graduate students, held separately on June 24, 2025. This inaugural event honored 209 graduate students, including 31 doctoral and 178 master's degree recipients. Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Pamela Resurrecion emphasized the dedication required for graduate studies, noting that many students completed their degrees "while juggling full-time jobs, raising children, caring for aging parents, or managing their own health".

Prof. Gervacio carries the symbolic responsibility of safeguarding the university's traditions and values.

Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan formally presented the 2,163 graduates for conferment. ÂÜÀòÉç Officer-in-Charge and Executive Vice President Prof. Rasid M. Paca conferred the various titles and degrees to the graduates, while Alumni Regent Engr. Samuel Sabenecio led the Alumni Pledge, welcoming the newest members into the ÂÜÀòÉç-IIT alumni community.

The graduation rites were attended by members of the ÂÜÀòÉç Board of Regents, ÂÜÀòÉç system officials, various campus chancellors and representatives, and ÂÜÀòÉç-IIT officials and guests.

This commencement builds upon ÂÜÀòÉç-IIT's strong tradition of academic excellence, with the university consistently producing a significant number of Latin honor graduates in each batch.

As the Class of 2025 embarks on their professional journeys, they carry with them not only their academic achievements but also ÂÜÀòÉç-IIT’s core values of honor and excellence, service and compassion, resilience and innovation, and the mission of the university to serve as stewards of hope, bridge-builders of understanding, and catalysts for positive change in Mindanao and the whole nation.
