Congratulations to all the Resident Performing Groups (RPG) of 蹤獲扦-IIT for a vibrant and full of energy show, Gabi ng Sining on August 11, 2025, at the 蹤獲扦-IIT Gymnasium.
It’s always a welcome treat to freshmen and the 蹤獲扦-IIT community to be regaled by the performances of the RPGs.
The sheer verve supported by a good mix of colors on uncluttered stage and a tasteful, stage background optics by the technical team projected a festive mood that enveloped the whole Gymnasium that early evening.
Students at the bleachers showed their appreciation in every performance when they waved in the air their lighted cellphones like a hundred metronomes keeping time while a piece is playing.
The entire show gave a variety of performances from the traditional music and dance numbers to the modern and innovative. Kudos likewise go to the music pool of every RPG as well for the great music – the percussion group winning over the rest of the instruments – and the showmanship of musicians.
The Cultural Development Office (CDO) on the other hand, was created during the stewardship of then Vice President Manaros Boransing with its first Director, the late Vicky Adeva. It was later renamed Center for Culture and Arts (CCA) during the time of Chancellor Sukarno Tanggol.
Fast forward later, Zayda O. Macarambon recalled that when she first organized the Gabi ng Sining in 2012 as Cultural Development Office Director, the performances have always been to unify and create camaraderie among the RPGs, for the entertainment of freshmen who are encouraged to choose which group they would like to become members of and to keep them away from bad elements.
The Gabi ng Sining show on August 11 continued the tradition under the administration of the current Chancellor, AliZedney Ditucalan.
The Gabi ng Sining was first offered during the opening week of classes, then it was moved to National Arts Month and later, when the school calendar was changed, during the opening of classes such as this month.
If not for the technical glitches, we also would like to see more improvement to future Gabi ng Sining performances on the overall choreography, props and costumes to make sure the colors and make are well researched and yes, let’s have poetry as in the past.
To the Artistic Directors of the RPGs and all performers, the whole package showcased the verve of high school kids and the college students who saw the need to give their all in a gesture of showmanship and goodwill before the 蹤獲扦-IIT and the General Community, enhancing the reputation of a university as a hub for culture and the arts.
Congratulations once more to the CCA, the RPGs and their Artistic Directors for a wholesome evening.
